Genesis and details of the whole trip from 24 December 2021 to 07 January 2022.

As usual, we had gone to Delhi for Leela's birthday. Had done a 5-day Shillong and Meghalaya trip and returned to Delhi on 15 March 2020.

By then, throughout the World, Coronavirus was assuming alarming proportions. Then got the news that our Nainital - Jim Corbett Trip was cancelled by Kesari tours.

PM Narendra Modi announced a national lockdown from 23 March 2020.

Lockdown was extended. Due to these lockdown extensions two of our Nagpur tickets were cancelled.

Eventually, we returned to Nagpur on 27 May 2020. Our entry date was stamped on our wrists and we were told to observe 14 days of home quarantine.

This was just the beginning. The 14 days virtually extended to more than a year of virtual house arrest as we were not going out of the house. To avoid exposure, we continued to stay in the house. Kirana, Milk, and medicines were being delivered at home. Even Tulsa Bai was asked not to come for work for almost 6 months but just to deliver vegetables. We were doing Jhadu, pocha, bhandi etc for all those six months.

The only concession was our morning walk which we could continue as there were virtually no people walking around that early in the morning. The 45 to 60 minutes of a brisk walk in the fresh air was one single factor that prevented us from going insane.

To us who for the past 20 odd years, were doing one trip to Delhi, one to Singapore and at least one foreign trip with Kesari, this virtual house arrest was extremely galling.

Gradually the first covid wave was receding to be followed by the second wave which was not as dangerous as the first one. Considering the adverse effects of lockdown on the economy, the Government was also easing the restrictions. Even so at the urging of Ajeet, we continued our self-imposed isolation except for rare meetings with Tatwawadis.

While we stayed at home, in the interim Ajeet did 3-to 4 weekend trips outside Delhi.

Ravi’s house in Mhow was also nearing completion.

By July we were totally fed up and also wanted to leave not only home but travel outside Nagpur.

That is how the trip to Mandu, Maheshwar, Indore and Mhow came about.

Ajeet and Jayati planned to reach Indore on 27 December, and leave for Mandu on the same day.

27- & 28-night stay in Mandu,

29 leave for Maheshwar. Night stay at Maheshwar.

30^th Leave for Mhow. Stay with Ravi 30, 31 Dec 21 & 1 Jan 22.

1^st afternoon Leave for Indore.

2^nd Jan 22 leave for Delhi.

We went to the MP Tourism office at Lokmat Square and did reservations for Malwa Resort at Mandu and Narmada Resort at Maheshwar.

Ravi and Rachana had to go and attend marriages at Raipur and Pune so Jiji came to stay with us.

Unfortunately, Ravi had a mild heart attack around mid-December and a stent was inserted.

Mhow stay was cancelled. Jayati did reservations at Radisson Blue; Indore till the night of

01 Jan 22.

 We reached Mhow around 1030 on 30 stayed till late afternoon and left for Radisson Blue Indore. 

Priti had not been to Indore for the last 4-5 years so we decided to stay at Indore a little longer so that she could spend time with Anil. 

Decided to reach Indore early and stay after Ajeet had left for Delhi. 

Accordingly made travel reservations from Nagpur on 24 Dec and return to Nagpur on 7 Jan 22.

To see details about any trips you will have to click on the trip listed in layers in the panel on the left of the map.

Details of the trip and location will appear listed below the heading.

Here you will just see a blue dot. In this case the map and the dot is centered on the monitor. You may have to center it in case it is not centered. To center it press any curser and move   the interactive map opens, unlike the map above, it may not be centered.  When you place the cursor and click a fist symbol will appear. Move the curser as required to center it.

 To see the details rather than just a blue dot zoom. As you zoom more and more, details listed in left panel will appear in map. Zoom till required. You may have to keep centering the map to have good viewing of details.

Click the location of any place in left panel you are interested in, that place will be highlighted in panel and the map will move to the  location of the place. At the same time a panel will also appear in the map  giving information about that place. If photos have been taken they will also appear in the same panel.
